Tell us about your career at Algeco
In November 2021, I started as a technical specialist at the Beverwijk branch. The first year was mainly devoted to modular thinking.
I feel that by now I have mastered that fairly well. In the future, I want to further increase my level of knowledge and specialization so that I can provide my colleagues with sound advice.
How would you best describe your job?
As a technical specialist, I create a technical drawing of the buildings requested by the customers, trying to take into account as much as possible the requirements imposed by laws and regulations.
I also indicate to our sales representatives what they have to take into account when making an offer.
What qualifications do you think are needed to do the job well?
For my job, it is important to take into account the limitations of a unit type. You cannot just make a unit 1 meter wider and therefore sometimes you will have to make a concession to the customer request. For example, if the customer needs a space of 5x5m it will not be possible within our rental range, this then becomes a space of 6x6m or 3x6m. Also, depending on the unit type, you don't want to make too many adjustments, as many of our customers value fast delivery and a major adjustment to the unit is costly on the one hand and expensive on the other.
What motivates you in your daily work, and what not?
I enjoy drawing and being able to help people, in my position I help colleagues get the right information to be able to offer a quote or prepare the units in the right way for the customers in the workshop.
When I am with the daily work, I always have to switch to tasks that are on the schedule for the longer time, that feels a bit like looking for work, I don't like that very much.
How would you describe your colleagues?
My colleagues are fairly diverse and thus cannot be described as a whole, but I like that they all have their own insights and qualities and thus keep me on my toes.
An interesting fact about yourself that you don't have on your LinkedIn profile
As well as being an employee of Algeco, I am above all a husband and father. My private life is very important and I like to make time for it.
People who know me a little also know that I don't like sitting still, I'm not very good at it, it makes me restless.
On the other hand, I often succeed in lying still, preferably with both eyes closed, in bed, and having a wonderful sleep.
You wouldn't know it now, but I used to have blond hair.
